Very comfortable and classic city BnB, Euro style in a Dutch Colonial. Staff were very helpful, friendly and accomodating. Great to have "off street" parking in this section of town. Wifi worked great, and enabled us to use Skype to keep in touch. I'm considering another trip to ct next summer and would definitely check out Fritz again.
Not much of a dislike, but the otherwise solid breakfast was brought down a bit by instant coffee; instant seems to be pretty standard in sa though.
Everyone at the Fritz was very accomodating, and went out of their way to help me check in (I was in a rush to get to a wedding) and they were very cheerful and efficient. The Breakfast had very tasty cheese, cold meats and croissants, perfect the start to the day.
Staff not available after hours and grumpy early in the morning, breakfast disastrous
Location was excellent and the bed was super comfy. Continental breakfast included. Free wi-fi. Nice staff. I was given a free room upgrade.
Must pay 50% upfront at time of booking. No air conditioning (a bit uncomfortable during hot days). It felt more like a guest house than a hotel (no 24 hour reception). I did notice little things that were off such as no soap in my room (just an empty soap box) and half empty shampoo bottles.
Relaxed but helpfull staff were great. We got a free upgrade to a room with a view of Table Mountain and found the onsite parking very convenient as well.
Couldn't get the free wireless to work on our laptop but the free to use computer in the lobby did work fine instead.
the peacefull and the general relationship with the staff
i thing hotel is getting old but i like it and like the staff working there they are really help full
The location is perfect for exploring CT, it is a 5 minute walk to the city center, nice restaurants and bars. The atmosphere at the hotel is really good, staff and owner are very friendly. We got a free upgrade of our room. You can comfortably sit in front of your room, viewing lion's head, and have a drink from the cheap mini bar. Free parking in front of the hotel. If we go to CT again we'll defintely stay in the Fritz hotel again.
The building might need some reconstruction.
We stayed at the Fritz on 11/12/2010 AND on 21/12/2010. Hotel made excellent arrangements for our early morning airport departure, held our luggage for 10 days whilst we were in Botswana on Safari, and provided free internet access.
The stairway to the second floor, being a curved one, made it very difficult to carry large/heavy luggage to our room. Hallways are narrow for carrying large bags.
The Fritz Hotel is 'a home away from home'. De ontvangst en ambiance is zo gastvrij dat je je onmiddelijk thuis voelt. Geweldig ingerichte kamers. Budgetroom tot luxe. Gelegen in bruisende wijk met veel goede restaurants.
I slepy superbly. The place is a quiet oasis in the middle of Cape Town and the bed is really 5star, flat and comfortable, the linen best percale. And the staff charming and very helpful
The hotel is well located.
The whole place seems to lack a bit of TLC. A lampshade was missing in my room, nobody had swept under the bed for days and the wardrobe was damaged. A failed lightbulb had not been replaced. More care needed generally, especially at R680 a night. The advertised mountain view - actually Signal Hill - would have been fine "if it wasn't for the buildings in between"!
nothing , and it not respect the picture showed on web site and expencive for that they offer .
the disorganizzation of reception , due too the weren't be hable to make transaction about visa circuit , after leave the hote l they request me to make a paimant or send them the deatils of another credit card ,,,, and not only one time , so i lost two hours of my time to go direcly to bank to pay the price of room , so negative experience , i dont recommend this hotel .
was a good location to move around to the various places including watching the matches in the WC.
the room size was too small compared to other bb places we have stayed. the safe was placed in the batchroom on the floor and was too small, even though the key was big!
The location was perfect for my business meetings in town. The availability of restaurants within walking distance was also a plus.
Parking is limited to 3 bays outside the Fritz, resulting in cars being parked on the road. The carpeting / mats in the room were so hard that walking barefoot on them was near impossible. There was no airconditioning. The pillows were floppy and I had to use 3 to rest comfortably. The bed was too hard. There was no cooked breakfast.
The Fritz is an attractive old fashioned, colonial style small hotel at the end of long street in Cape Town. Parts of Long street are like New Orleans. It's in fashionable area, with local bars and restaurants, nice and laid back. The room we had was large, light and airy with a nice terrace. Friendly staff and a very hospitable host. Would definitely stay here again.
